Welcome Letter — 2025—2026 School Year

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    July 1, 2025

Dear Happy Valley Families,

Welcome to a new year of fun, learning, and adventure through the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) at Happy Valley School District! We're thrilled to offer another exciting year filled with engaging programs that enrich your child 's education beyond the traditional school day.

What is ELOP?

The ELOP Program, funded by the State of California, is designed to support academic growth, creativity, and social development in a safe, supportive environment. All programs are FREE and available to currently enrolled TK—8th grade students in the Happy Valley School District.

What to Expect This Year:

Throughout the school year, we'll be offering a wide range of programs such as:

  • Sports Camps
  • Art & Creativity Workshops
  • Gardening & Nature Clubs
  • Cooking Classes and Camps
  • STEM & Brain Buster Clubs
  • Market Day Camps

                                                                            ...and so much more!

We're excited to continue incorporating family and community suggestions into our offerings, and we can 't wait to show you what we've got planned!

How To Register:

  •    Registration is required for each program and must be submitted by the published due date.
  • All ELOP programs are first come, first served, with 60 student spots available per program.
  • Once a program reaches capacity, additional students will be placed on a waiting list. If a spot becomes available, students will be added in the order received.

* *If you would like help with the registration process, feel free to drop by the Family Center, located at the Primary School campus, next to the Preschool.

Attendance Policy:

Please be mindful that consistent attendance is required.

  •  If a student registers for a program and does not attend, they will be ineligible for the next offered program, but may reapply after sitting out one cycle.
  • This helps ensure that every student who wants to participate has a fair opportunity and that our programs run efficiently and effectively.

Keeping Things Running Smoothly:

To make the most of these opportunities for all students, we ask that families:

  • Register on time and only for programs your child can fully commit to
  • Communicate any changes in participation as early as possible
  • Support your child's active and respectful engagement in all activities

We're here to make this program a success for every student and are always open to your feedback. Thank you for being a valued part of the Happy Valley community. We look forward to a fantastic year ahead!

Warm regards,

Shawna Muela

MEET OUR TEAM!

Meet Happy Valley School District's Community Connect Liaison, Sandi Garcia and ELOP Coordinator,          Shawna Muela. We are here to help!

As the ELOP Coordinator, my mission is to design, implement, and oversee high-quality expanded learning programs that enrich students’ academic, social, and emotional development beyond the traditional school day. I am committed to fostering inclusive, engaging, and safe environments where all students—especially those furthest from opportunity—can explore their interests, develop new skills, and thrive. Through strong partnerships with staff, families, and community organizations, I aim to ensure equitable access to meaningful enrichment experiences that support whole-child success.
